FLL Explore
The 2024/2025 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) theme was called Submerged where we used creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring learnings and ideas to the surface as we “sea” into the future.
At the Southern Nevada Festival on December 7, 2024, the team was awarded the Team Model Award! We displayed innovation and creativity through the design and building of our team model.
FLL Challenge
The Allsparks expanded and now have a FLL Explore and FLL Challenge team! The theme for FLL Challenge is the same as FLL Explore, since they are both part of FIRST LEGO League, with the exception that FLL Challenge has a competitive element with Robot Performance, and includes the Innovation Project and Robot Design components.
Innovation, collaboration, and an unyielding passion for STEAM propelled The Allsparks, a rookie FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge team, to incredible achievements this season. With our debut in the world of competitive robotics, we showcased our technical prowess and captured the spirit of teamwork and perseverance.
Competing against seasoned teams in a Las Vegas Qualifier event on November 16, 2024, we earned the 2nd Place Robot Performance Award for our programming and strategic gameplay. The Robot Performance Award celebrates a team that scores the most points during the Robot Game. Teams have a chance to compete in at least three 2.5-minute matches, and their highest score counts. Our robot’s ability to execute precise missions was a testament to the team's dedication and problem-solving skills.
But that wasn’t all—the team also clinched the Rising All-Star Award, a recognition reserved for a team the judges notice and expect great things from in the future. Our performance secured us an invitation to the FIRST LEGO League Southern Nevada Championship in December 2024, a prestigious event featuring the top 30 teams in the region.
At the Southern Nevada Championship on December 14, 2024, The Allsparks faced off against the best teams in the area, each bringing their A-game. Undeterred by the stiff competition, the team displayed remarkable resilience and growth. Our approach to engineering and robot design earned us the Engineering Excellence Award, which celebrates a team with an efficiently designed robot, an innovative project solution that effectively addresses the season challenge, and Core Values evident in all they do. The Engineering Excellence Award was particularly meaningful for The Allsparks as we received it at the Championship event shortly after being awarded the Rising All-Star Award in the qualifier event.
2023/2024
This is the second year for team #26135, and we rebranded ourselves as The Allsparks! The 2023/2024 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore theme was called MASTERPIECE, where we explored how our passion for the arts, such as gymnastics, music, and painting, is shared through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
At the Southern Nevada Festival on January 27, 2024, the team was awarded the Team Poster Award! We demonstrated creativity on our team poster and clearly explained what we had learned through our FLL Explore team journey.
We are looking forward to continuing with FLL next season!
2022/2023
The 2022/2023 FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore season was the rookie year for team #26135! The FLL challenge was called SUPERPOWERED, where we explored the energy journey from sources, storage, and distribution methods, to consumption. We decided on the team name: Limitless Engineering, Growth, and Observations (L.E.G.O.)!
At the Southern Nevada Festival on February 4, 2023, the team was awarded the Challenge Solution Award for demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills to create innovative and helpful solutions to the challenge. We were invited to participate in the FLL Explore division at the 2023 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) - Las Vegas Regional Rally on April 1, 2023. The team won the Coding Award and Challenge Solution Award! In our rookie year, we won two Challenge Solution Awards and a Coding Award!
The team persevered when the motor's Bluetooth disconnected at the FRC Las Vegas Regional Rally while presenting to the reviewers. However, we rolled with it since we built the coding program and team model and understood it thoroughly. We walked the reviewers through the program using a manual lever to demonstrate how the model would have worked with a working motor. It was an unintentional backup, but it proved that the design worked well and that we completely understood the model's design, coding, and mechanics.
We are looking forward to next year's Challenge and building new models!
